"The revival of track and field in the United States"
“Everything has to start someplace. Historians will note that the revival of track and field in the United States began Wednesday, April 20, 2011, right here in Lawrence, on Eighth Street, 80 feet or so east of New Hampshire” said Tom Keegan, Lawrence Journal World sports editor. High intensity athletes, thumping music and historic Downtown Lawrence … along with some suds made the event a huge success for the community and the sport of track and field.
The Game Plan
Assist with in-game planning of presentations, promotions and jersey retirements for basketball and football games.
Turn it up
Manage the gameday activities and promotion for the volleyball program, which saw record number of sell outs in consecutive years. The team wins most games and I have a small hand in getting the crowd and players “turnt up.”
Street Vault
Helped develop the Kansas Relays Street Vault. The event continues to grow, as the Kansas Relays become a week full of fun events for the community and athletes.
Rain or Shine
Assisted in hosting the 2016 NCAA West Preliminary Round. Severe weather presented a challenge to meet management, but also provided an opportunity to test critical thinking and communication skills under pressure.
It's a Party
We continue to build the Kansas Relays into a community event with fireworks, food trucks, a happy hour and more.
Nacho average serving size
Setting a Guinness World Record for largest serving of nachos brought fans and media attention while raising a significant amount of money for charity … nachos and charity, what’s not to like?
Another WR
I became a wannabe-sound engineer for a week, as I assisted executing the logistics of breaking “another” Guinness World Record. Not exactly the world records I dreamed of as a little kid, but how many people can say they have a few Guinness World Record plaques?
Cube off
Gained media attention and fan following with a Rubik’s Cube dual between an Olympic bronze medalist and a Jayhawk basketball fan favorite
Jumping the shark
Responsible for the concept that proved popular with media photographers and fan/athlete social media. The steeple chase event gained attention with the shark barrier and “Jaws” theme music playing on the audio system.
We are the champions
